About Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge
The Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge is a 9,125-segment of land National Wildlife Refuge made up of a couple of packs of land along 50 miles 80 km of Maine's southern float. Made in 1966, it is named for tree hugger and author Rachel Carson, whose book Silent Spring raised open awareness of the effects of DDT on brief larks, and of other natural issues.
