R.R. Moton Museum
About R.R. Moton Museum
The Robert Russa Moton Museum is a noteworthy site and gallery at 900 Griffin Bouled in Farmville. It is situated in the previous Robert Russa Moton High School, considered "the understudy origination of America's Civil Rights Movement" for its underlying understudy strike. It was assigned a National Historic Landmark and is presently a gallery devoted to that history. The historical center and school were named for African-American teacher Robert Russa Moton.
It houses six classrooms and an office masterminded around a focal assembly hall. It had no cafeteria or restrooms for educators. Worked to deal with 180 understudies. Today the Moton School remains as an indication of the battle for Civil Rights in Education. The historical center houses shows containing Moton High School memorabilia, curios of the Civil Rights Movement, and oral accounts of previous instructors and understudies who review their encounters of the understudy walkout and the school closings.
