Pulgas Water Temple
About Pulgas Water Temple
The Pulgas Water Temple is a stone structure west of I-280 at 86 Canada Road, Woodside, California, United States, outlined by designer William G. Dealer. It was raised by the San Francisco Water Department to recognize the 1934 finishing of the Hetch Hetchy Aqueduct and is situated at the reservoir conduit's end. In 1938, the first water sanctuary was supplanted with the ebb and flow outline.
The water sanctuary comprises of fluted Corinthian segments organized around, whereupon a huge stone workmanship ring with the words "I give waters in the wild and streams in the desert, to offer toast my kin" are recorded. There is an extensive, tree-lined reflecting pool toward the east. The water sanctuary grounds can be leased for weddings or unique occasions.
San Francisco and encompassing networks get water from the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir roughly 160 miles away by means of the Hetch Hetchy Aqueduct. Water once influenced the excursion to the Pulgas to water Temple and streamed over a little C-formed cascade inside the water sanctuary itself where it proceeded with around 800 feet down a waterway toward the west into Upper Crystal Springs Reservoir. Beginning in 2004, water never again courses through the sanctuary, yet rather is redirected to an adjacent treatment plant where chloramine included at the Sunol treatment plant is expelled.
