Provo Utah Temple
About Provo Utah Temple
The Provo Utah Temple is the seventeenth developed and fifteenth working sanctuary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Situated in the city of Provo, Utah, it was worked with a cutting-edge single-tower outline, like the first plan of the Ogden Utah Temple. Since Provo's initial years, a slope only upper east of downtown Provo was known as "Sanctuary Hill." Instead of a sanctuary, in any case, the Maeser Building was based on the slope in 1911 as a piece of the Brigham Young University BYU grounds.
A 17-section of land 69,000 m² square of property at the base of Rock Canyon was picked as the site for the Provo Temple. The aim to develop a sanctuary in Provo was reported by the LDS Church on August 14, 1967, and a historic function was hung on September 15, 1969, with development starting before long. Emil B. Fetzer, the designer for the Ogden and Provo sanctuaries, was requested to make a practical plan with productivity, comfort, and sensible cost as key iables. The sanctuary was committed on February 9, 1972, by LDS Church president Joseph Fielding Smith.
The two dedicatory administrations were communicated to a few substantial amphitheaters on the BYU grounds, including the 22,700-situate Marriott Center. The sanctuary has 6 mandate rooms and 12 fixing rooms, and has an aggregate floor zone of 128,325 square feet. Thirty-one years after the sanctuary's consummation, a statue of the Angel Moroni was added to the tower, which itself was changed from gold to white.
