Pierce Manse
About Pierce Manse
The Pierce Manse is a memorable house historical center situated in Concord, New Hampshire. In May 1845, Pierce removed an outing from home to visit his companion Nathaniel Hawthorne and his significant other Sophia Peabody, who were then living in The Old Manse in Concord, Massachusetts, alongside their Bowdoin College companion Horatio Bridge. Peabody reviewed the gathering affectionately and recorded her initial introduction of Pierce as "perfection and truth of character and regular refinement."
In 1846, Polk offered Pierce the United States Attorney General position, which Pierce declined by virtue of his significant other's health. That year, with the episode of the Mexican– American War, Pierce enrolled as a private and was soon elevated to brigadier general. After a mischance brought about damage amid the Battle of Contreras, he surrendered from the Army by 1848.
