About Philippe Park

It is arranged on 122 sections of land 0.49 km2 that was once part of Philippe's estate. Philippe Park is a Pinellas County stop situated in Safety Harbor, Florida. The recreation center is named after Count Odet Philippe, who is attributed with acquainting grapefruit with Florida. Philippe was the region's first non-local pilgrim, touching base in 1842. Philippe is covered in the recreation center yet the correct area is undetermined.

A Tocobaga Indian hill that is arranged in the recreation center is a National Historic Landmark known as the Safety Harbor Site. The sanctuary hill is one of the last leftovers of the Tocobaga on the Pinellas Peninsula. Records show that Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, the organizer of St. Augustine, Florida, went by the site in 1566 to help facilitate a détente between the Tocobaga and the Calusa toward the south.
