Philip A. Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit, is a city square along the Detroit River. It is found pretty much on the site at which Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac arrived in 1701 when he established Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit, the settlement that moved toward becoming Detroit.The region where Hart Plaza stands today is accepted to be the place Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac arrived in 1701. The waterfront zone turned into the primary wellspring of correspondence and transportation to the outside world until the innovations of the railroad and broadcast. By the mid nineteenth century this zone was secured by docks, distribution centers, and other industry, as was the vast majority of Detroit's waterfront of the time.
