Mount Vernon Trail

The trail goes through the easternmost parts of Arlington County, the City of Alexandria, and Fairfax County. It is a piece of U.S. Bicycle Route . The Mount Vernon Trail, a piece of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail, is a 17 miles 27 km cleared climbing/cycling way in Northern Virginia that movements amongst Rosslyn and George Washington's home at Mount Vernon.

The trail's course parallels the George Washington Memorial Parkway and the western bank of the Potomac River. The greater part of the northern portion of the trail is open and has perspectives of the waterway and of Washington, D.C. The southern 8 miles 13 km underneath Alexandria is to a great extent lush and has just periodic perspectives of the stream.
