Mount Adams
About Mount Adams
It is the second most astounding top in the Northeast United States after its close-by neighbor, Mt. Washington. Situated in the northern Presidential Range, Mount Adams was named after John Adams, the second leader of the United States. It was given this name on July 31, 1820. Toward the upper east is Mount Madison and toward the southwest is Mount Jefferson. From the summit, Mount Washington can be seen specifically toward the south. There are two noteworthy auxiliary pinnacles of Mt. Adams: Mount Sam Adams and Mount Quincy Adams, named after John Adams' cousin, Revolutionary pioneer Samuel Adams, and child, President John Quincy Adams, separately, and two minor sub-tops, Abigail Adams named for John Adams' better half Abigail and Adams 5.
