About Millers Landing Park
Arranged over the Deschutes River from McKay Park, Miller's Landing Park is Bend's most up to date riverfront stop and is lavishly established in our town's history. In 1877, Stephen Staats as in Staats St. documented claim for the land which is presently home to the recreation center. The parkland was at one time farmed, home to a lodging and the site of one of Bend's initial post workplaces. In 1924, Harry Miller, proprietor of Miller Lumber Company, purchased the land.
Its area only downriver from the Shevlin-Hixon and Brooks Scanlon plants was a perfect site for a timber holding zone, organizing region for conveyance wagons and stable for steeds. Numerous years after the fact when stallions were supplanted with gas motor vehicles, the organization never again effectively utilized the property. In time, the land's essential utilize was by local people to get to the stream.
