Magnolia

Magnolia is a city in Texas, United States. It is named for the magnolia trees that developed in the area.The first settlement in the Magnolia zone was a town named Mink Prairie, established in around 1845 when an agriculturist named Mink fabricated a homestead. By 1850, the town's name was abbreviated to Mink.6 After the Civil War, Mink's populace swelled because of a flood of pilgrims from Kentucky and Tennessee, bringing about a mail station being worked in 1885.In 1902, the International-Great Northern Railroad , chose to construct a railroad toward the north of Mink, making the vast majority of the occupants of Mink draw nearer to the railroad line.The new town was named Melton out of appreciation for a well off landowner who lived in the area.
