Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life
About Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life
The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life, in the past known as the Judah L. Magnes Museum from 1961 until the point that its reviving in 2012, is an exhibition hall of Jewish history, workmanship, and culture in Berkeley, California. The exhibition hall, which was established in 1961 by Seymour and Rebecca Fromer, is named for Jewish lobbyist Rabbi Judah L. Magnes, a local of Oakland and fellow benefactor of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
This houses in excess of 30,000 Jewish antiquities and original copies, which is the third biggest accumulation of its kind in the United States. Amid the 2000s, arrangements were held to possibly blend the Judah L. Magnes Museum with what is currently called the Contemporary Jewish Museum of San Francisco.
