Lyman Museum & Mission House

The Lyman House Memorial Museum, otherwise called the Lyman Museum in Hilo, Hawaii. The primary accumulations were moved to a contiguous present day working in the 1960s, while the house is open for visits as the island's most established surviving wood-confined building. It was one of the main houses on the island to be worked in the style of their local New England, utilizing local koa and ohia woods. Visitors included Mark Twain and Isabella Bird. In 1854 - 1859 the new Haili Church was worked over the road, supplanting the covered structures that served beforehand for the assembly.

Right around a century after the teachers' entry, a historical center was established in 1931 by their descendents. In the late 1960s, draftsman Vladimir Ossipoff composed and constructed a Museum building neighboring the mission house. Upon its fulfillment, the Museum moved there and extended its shows. It has broad shows on Hawaiian culture and is eminent for its gathering of shells and minerals, including an example of orlymanite, named for Orlando Hammond Lyman, the exhibition hall's originator and incredible grandson of David and Sarah Lyman.
