Lovers Rock of Lovells Island

In December 1786, thirteen travelers and group individuals got away from a sinking wreck off the northern side of the Lovells Island. The awful breezes of a snow squall pulverize the helpless survivors, and they all died. Among the dead were a couple connected with to be hitched, found in each other's arms behind a stone on the western side of the island.

The lost couple's disaster prompted the stone being named "Lover's Rock". Lovells Island is notable for ious wrecks including the disaster area of the asserted French fortune transport Magnifique in 1782. The island is likewise home to disintegrating stays of weapon batteries, fortifications and Fort Standish.
