About Locust Grove
Locust Grove is an eighteenth century homestead and chateau recorded as a U.S. National Historic Landmark. The 55-section of land site incorporates a 1792 Georgian manor worked by William and Lucy Clark Croghan. Mrs. Crogan was the sister of William Clark of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and it was at this house the well known adventurers remained in the wake of coming back from their undertaking.
A few U.S. Presidents including James Monroe and Andrew Jackson likewise went to the chateau. Craftsman James Audubon was additionally a visitor here. Bought by Jefferson County and the State of Kentucky, the house was opened to people in general in 1964 after broad reclamation.
