Living History Farms

Living History Farms is a 500-section of land outside historical center situated in Urbandale, Iowa, United States. The historical center's main goal is to teach guests and exhibit the previous 300 long periods of Iowa's rural history. As its name suggests, the exhibition hall takes after the technique of living history in delineating the lives of individuals living on ranches in the long periods of 1700, 1850, and 1900, taking part in different rural exercises. Dr. William G. Murray, a farming financial expert from Iowa State University and two-time gubernatorial hopeful, established the association, which opened to people in general in 1970.

Dr. Murray's energy was not to have a historical center where individuals saw things under glass, but instead a place where history was lived. The exhibition hall is separated by Interstate 35/80 and a tractor-drawn truck transports guests from the town which is by the passage at the Visitor Center toward the west side of the historical center. Subsequent to visiting the 1700 Ioway Farm, 1850 Farm, 1900 Farm, and Wallace Exhibit Center, guests come back toward the east side of the interstate. The 1875 town of Walnut Hill includes different structures, including the Martin and Ellen Flynn Home and horse shelter, both unique to the site.
