The Lewis and Clark State Historic Site Visitors Center a 14,000 square-foot office, situated at the Winter camp zone of the campaign, will be the main site on the National Lewis and Clark Heritage Trail. A 55-foot full-scale imitation of the bottom pontoon utilized by Lewis and Clark is the focal show. There are displays on Illinois and the whole endeavor and in addition a video in the office's theatre.
The Visitors Center spotlights on the frequently untold Illinois story of Lewis and Clark. Shows talk about the preparatory data and learning accumulated on the land west of the Mississippi River and the arrangements, desires, and suspicions for the expedition.
The Lewis and Clark State Historic Site has been assigned as the area for one of the National Signature Events for the remembrance of the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial. This national occasion will happen on May 14, 2004, and will stamp the 200th commemoration of the start of the excursion from Lewis and Clark's camp in Illinois. The Lewis and Clark State Historic Site is open with the expectation of complimentary open visits and is regulated by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.
