Lawrence

Lawrence is the area seat of Douglas County and 6th biggest city in Kansas. It is situated in the northeastern area of the state, by Interstate 70, between the Kansas and Wakarusa Rivers. Lawrence was established by the New England Emigrant Aid Company and was named for Amos Adams Lawrence who offered money related guide and support for the settlement. Lawrence was key to the Bleeding Kansas period and was the site of the Wakarusa War 1855 the Sack of Lawrence 1856, and the Lawrence Massacre 1863.Lawrence started as a focal point of Kansas legislative issues.
