Lake Metigoshe State Park
About Lake Metigoshe State Park
Lake Metigoshe is a standout amongst the most prominent year-round get-away spots in North Dakota. The little lakes inside the recreation center give chances to angling, paddling, sculling and swimming. A huge number of trails draw in climbers and mountain bikers. The Lake Metigoshe zone was home to a few Native American clans, including the Blackfoot and Hidatsa, and later the Assiniboine and Chippewa.
The lake takes its name from the Chippewa expression, "metigoche washegum," or clear lake encompassed by oak trees. Of all of North Dakota's state parks, Lake Metigoshe contains the best real esatate of land staying in its characteristic condition. The recreation center's forests and wetlands are phenomenal finds for guests acquainted with North Dakota's far reaching prairie vistas.
