Kensico Reservoir
About Kensico Reservoir
It is a reservoir situated in the towns of Armonk North Castle, Harrison and Valhalla Mount Pleasant, New York. It was formed by the old earth and rock dam, worked in 1885, which appropriated waters from the Bronx and Byram streams, and provided around 18 million gallons every day.
The development of another stone work dam in 1915, supplanted the old dam, and extended the water supply by bringing water from the Catskill Mountains over a separation of in excess of 100 miles. It is around 3 miles 5 km north of downtown White Plains, New York, and around 15 miles 24 km north of New York City.
