John J. Glessner House

Glessner House is a National Historic Landmark and well known for its historical presence; it was outlined by noted American draftsman Henry Hobson Richardson and finished in 1887. It remains a globally known engineering treasure in Chicago. A radical takeoff from customary Victorian design, the structure filled in as a motivation to engineers, for example, Louis Sullivan, Mies van der Rohe, and the youthful Frank Lloyd Wright and re-imagined residential engineering.

Richardson reacted to this demand with a structure that was a splendid and, for a period, progressive articulation of the urban townhouse chateau. The house is likewise quintessentially Richardsonian: momentous, stronghold like, planned because of the site, including monstrous rusticated stone pieces, round curves and outline components got from French and Spanish Romanesque design.
