Huckleberry Railroad
About Huckleberry Railroad
The Huckleberry Railroad started working in 1857 as a feature of the Flint Pere Marquette Railroad Company. The Flint Pere Marquette Railroad Company was sorted out on June 22, 1857. The branch of the Pere Marquette from Flint to Otter Lake 15 miles was developed under the Flint River Railroad Charter and opened in 1872. It later was known as the Otter Lake Branch. Inevitably the track was stretched out by another 4.5 miles from Otter Lake to Fostoria, for an aggregate of 19.5 miles from Flint to Fostoria.
Pere Marquette was consumed by the C&O Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad. The C&O blended and other railroad lines converged with the B&O to end up the Chessie System. The Chessie System is currently known as CSX.
