About Hiawatha National Forest

When you initially enter the Hiawatha National Forest, glance around. At first look, you'll see a backwoods with bottomless natural life, miles of waterways and streams, and many waterfalls. You'll see a timberland that touches the picturesque shorelines and shorelines of three Great Lakes, and is home to six memorable beacons. You'll see verifiable structures, archeological destinations, and ancient Native American relics that are a window to our past, which are being saved for our future.
At that point look closer and you may notice uncommon feathered creatures like bald eagles, Kirtland's larks, and channeling plovers, or hear the unmistakable calls of sandhill cranes. You may hear the cry of a timber wolf or maybe the cry of a catamount. You'll see a backwoods that is home to uncommon plants like the Houghton's goldenrod, overshadow lake iris, pitcher's thorn and lakeside daisy.
