Hershey Gardens
About Hershey Gardens
Hershey Gardens is a 23-section of land 9.3 ha professional flowerbed and arboretum situated at 170 Hotel Road, Hershey, close Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. They are set on a slope sitting above Hersheypark. It was worked as a blessing from chocolate financier Milton S. Hershey for his group and to respect his better half, Catherine. The Hershey Gardens initially opened to the general population on June 2, 1937 as a rose garden possessing 3.5 sections of land 1.4 ha. On the principal day in excess of 20,000 guests came to see the rose garden. In 1937, 1939 and 1941 Milton Hershey included more gardens. By 1941 the patio nurseries had been broadened to their present size, 23 sections of land 9.3 ha. In September 1938 the American Rose Society regarded Milton Hershey's commitment to roses by naming a rose after him. L.B. Coddington, a conspicuous rose hybridiser from Murray Hill, New Jersey, suggested that a red velvet dark red rose he was creating be named 'M.S. Hershey.
