About Helena Historic District
The Helena Historic District is a governmentally assigned historically significant area in Helena, Montana, United States. Since its foundation in 1972, the HHD has had limit alterations in 1990 and 1993.23 The first 1972 assignment was made out of two detached areas known as "Downtown" and "West Residential".Helena was at first established in the downtown segment. On July 14, 1864 four diggers, named the "Four Georgians" , found gold in a creekbed along what today is Helena's downtown principle road, Last Chance Gulch. This started a social and building blast that endured 30 years and Helena turned into the state capital. The city developed from south to north along Last Chance Gulch, its fundamental road, and thus the advancement of building styles can be followed.
