Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum
About Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum
This is the presidential library and resting spot of Harry S. Truman, the 33rd President of the United States, situated on U.S. Thruway 24 in Independence, Missouri. It was the main presidential library to be made under the arrangements of the 1955 Presidential Libraries Act, and is one of thirteen presidential libraries regulated by the National Archives and Records Administration. Based on a slope sitting above the Kansas City horizon, ashore gave by the City of Independence, the Truman Library was committed July 6, 1957, in a function which incorporated the Masonic Rites of Dedication and participation by previous President Herbert Hoover at that point the main living previous president other than President Truman, Chief Justice Earl Warren, and previous First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Truman effectively partook in the everyday task of the Library, expressly preparing gallery docents and leading off the cuff "public interviews" for going to class understudies. He habitually touched base before the staff and would frequently pick up the telephone to give headings and answer questions, telling amazed guests that he was simply the "man."
