Granite Peak Ski Area
About Granite Peak Ski Area
It is a ski region situated in Rib Mountain State Park in the Town of Rib Mountain, Marathon County, Wisconsin, south of Wausau. It highlights 74 runs and 6 territory stops starting at 2011 and brags a vertical drop of 700 feet 213 m. It is the third tallest ski zone in the Midwest, after Mount Bohemia 900 ft. in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and Lutsen Mountain 825 ft. on Minnesota's north shore of Lake Superior. It is ten miles 16 km north-upper east of Central Wisconsin Airport.
At the point when the ski region opened on the slants of Rib Mountain in 1937, it was one of the principal ski zones in North America. Stowe in Vermont had opened a couple of years sooner in 1934. Sun Valley in Idaho had turned into the country's first ski resort in the western states in 1936.
Skiing on Rib Mountain has been extended essentially since 2000 when Granite Peak Ski Area assumed control ski zone tasks, expanding to 74 runs, with seven new chairlifts and another base town.
