George Washington Carver State Park was a state stop in the U.S. territory of Georgia. It existed from 1950 to 1975, when it was absorbed into Red Top Mountain State Park.Red Top Mountain, situated on Lake Allatoona, comprises of 1,553 sections of land 6 km2 and gets its name from the rich red shade of the dirt that originates from the high iron substance in the ground.
In 1950, the state at first rented the land for a long time from the U.S. Armed force Corps of Engineers. The recreation center served to save the zone's history, as well as lift Bartow County's development and farming economy.In 1950, Atlanta occupant and previous Tuskegee Airman John Loyd Atkinson Sr. was instrumental in building up George Washington Carver State Park 1950– 1975, the state just stops at any point named for an African American.
