About Gans
It is a piece of the Fort Smith, Arkansas-Oklahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. The populace was 312 at the 2010 registration, an expansion of 50 percent from 208 at the 2000 census. Gans was initially a scattered settlement in the Sequoyah District of the Cherokee Nation in Indian Territory known as Jack Town. It was renamed Gann in the late nineteenth Century for three siblings, Charlie, Swimmer, and Tom Gann, who settled there.
The Kansas City, Pittsburg and Gulf Railroad assembled a line through the region amid 1895-6 and asked for that the name be changed to Gans, since it as of now had two different areas named Gann. Gans consolidated in the Cherokee Nation in 1902. It lost this status in 1933. It reincorporated in 1953. The town was genuinely harmed by a tornado in 1957, yet later revamped.
