Take after a delicate old railroad level into the coal-mining apparition town of Franklin, along the Green River close Black Diamond. It's a simple stroll up to the coal truck and fixed mine pole. Take after the limited trail past to find the powerhouse establishment and burial ground. In the 1880's, powered by coal mining movement in the territory, the town of Franklin was conceived.
Franklin and its related Oregon Improvement Company mine have a storied past which incorporates the questionable refinement of having been the site of one of Washington State's most exceedingly awful mine debacles.
On August 24, 1894 thirty-seven mineworkers choked because of a terminate in the mine that seemed to have been deliberately begun. The dig kept on working for about 25 years after the episode, yet by 1919 coal mining in the zone had everything except stopped. Without any employments to maintain them the majority of Franklin's inhabitants deserted the town.
