Fort Gaines

The very much protected bulwarks of Fort Gaines have monitored the passageway to Mobile Bay for over 150 years. Presently a notable site, the Fort remains at the eastern tip of Dauphin Island where it orders all encompassing perspectives of the narrows and the Gulf of Mexico.
Stronghold Gaines is one of the key locales in the acclaimed Battle of Mobile Bay where Admiral Farragut yelled his now-renowned request, "Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!" The fortification has unique guns, a smithy shop, kitchens, an exhibition hall, blessing shop, and passages. Guided visits are done in period uniform which will breath life into history including gun discharging show and blacksmithing.
