Forbes House Museum
About Forbes House Museum
The Forbes House Museum is situated on Milton Hill, disregarding Boston's horizon, the Neponset River swamps, and Boston Harbor out yonder. In the mid 1600s, the Neponset Tribe settled at this site along the Neponset River, neglecting the Great Blue Hills. In the late 1700s, the last illustrious legislative leader of Massachusetts, Thomas Hutchinson 1711– 1780, claimed a 95-section of land bequest on Milton Hill and spent his recreation hours planting trees and developing his gardens. Our China exchange gathering incorporates nineteenth century trade porcelain, artworks, furniture, and other novel things brought again from China by Captain Robert Bennet Forbes and his family. You can see cases of Canton blue-and-white china and three sets of Chinese Foo Dogs. On see are pictures of the intense Chinese outside exchange authority, Houqua, and Thomas Tunno Forbes, the Captain's more seasoned sibling who died in the waters of China in 1829. See peacock plumes, bronze Chinese cranes, and figures of Buddha and the goddess of leniency, Guan Yin.
