About Federal Hall
In 1939, Federal Hall was assigned a National Historic Site and its stewardship was exchanged to the National Park Service. After sixteen years, Congress re-assigned it Federal Hall National Memorial to recognize the initiation of George Washington and the creation of American government. Guests today can see the book of scriptures utilized by George Washington as he guaranteed of office and an area of the railing and a stone tablet from the gallery where he remained at old Federal Hall. The Wall Street steps, only opposite the New York Stock Exchange, are a prevalent place for people-viewing and for taking photographs with the famous statue of George Washington.
