Eastham
About Eastham
Eastham is the passage to the Cape Cod National Seashore and the Outer Cape. There are a few great inlet and sea shorelines which have been prominent for generations.Easthamwas first settled by the Pilgrims in 1644. Initially named Nawsett, it was fused on June 7, 1651. To start with Encounter Beach is the place Myles Standish and friends got together with the Nauset Indians in 1620.Eastham was basically one mammoth asparagus fix until the 1920s, however now is known for its scrumptious turnips. If you appreciate the outside, you'll cherish Eastham. It has probably the most fascinating nature trails and sights, including Fort Hill and the Red Maple Swamp Trail and Nauset Marsh Trail, all in the Cape Cod National Seashore. Biking aficionados and walkers will love the Cape Cod Rail Trail. Kept up by the state's Dept. of Conservation and Recreation, it's a 22-mile previous railroad that keeps running from Dennis to Wellfleet.History buffs celebrate; Eastham's Historical Society works a few locales including the Schoolhouse Museum, the Windmill on the Village Green and the Swif-Daley House.
