About Connecticut State Capitol
The Connecticut State Capitol is the home of the Connecticut State Senate, the House of Representatives, the Connecticut General Assembly, and the workplace of the Governor of the State of Connecticut. The present legislative hall, built with marble and rock and opened in 1871, was planned in the Eastlake Movement style and has been assigned as a U.S. National Historic Landmark.
On the primary floor there are accumulations of memorable relics, a large number of which are identified with the Civil War. There are independently directed visits and in addition free one-hour guided visits, which are led from Monday to Friday.
