One of the first parks in Berkeley, Codornices Park was opened in 1915 with a mind blowing field house, a fine tennis court, and numerous other play highlights. By an assention dated October 11, 1921, the City of Berkeley rented the land, which was claimed by the Water Company prevailing by the East Bay Municipal Utilities District, or EBMUD for $1.00 a year for a long time. The City practiced the alternative to purchase the land in 1967 and obtained the property from EBMUD for $68,968 on January 22, 1976.
The softball field was included 1970. A people group gathering, Los Amigos de Codornices, met up in 1980 to build up a recreation center arrangement and start a progression of group work gatherings to reestablish ways, glades, slopes, scaffolds, and trails.
