Chartist Mural
About Chartist Mural
It was a mosaic wall painting planned by Kenneth Budd and made in 1978 out of a passerby underpass in Newport, Wales. It remembered the Newport Rising of 1839, in which an expected 22 demonstrators were murdered by troops. It was 115 feet 35 m long and 13 feet 4.0 m high.
The wall painting was questionably crushed in 2013 notwithstanding some open restriction and dissents, before adjoining structures were devastated to clear a path for the Friars Walk redevelopment.
The wall painting contained 200,000 bits of tile and glass.
