It is in Roeding Park in Fresno, California which occupies around 39 acres and housing over 190 species.
It was opened in 1908 with two bears and roughly 50 birds. Dr. Paul chaffee was the first director/ veterinarian of the zoo during the 1960s.
Top Species are Stingray Bay, Dino Dig, Valley Farm, Sea Lion Cove, African Adventure, and Ross Laird's Winged Wonders Bird Show.
This zoo is approved by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. In 2016, the zoo had approx 964,091 visitors, a 19% increase over 2015.
