About Cathedral of Saint Paul

The Cathedral of St. Paul in the city of St. Paul is more than 100 years of age. The basilica is the vision of Archbishop John Ireland, and engineer and gave Catholic Emmanuel Louis Masquery. Development of the building initiated in 1907 and the outside was finished in 1914. Work on the inside continued at a slower pace, as subsidizing permitted, however the Cathedral could hold the primary Mass in the somewhat finished expanding on Easter Sunday in 1915.

The outside is Minnesotan St. Cloud stone. The inside dividers are American Travertine from Mankato, Minnesota, and the inside segments are made of a few kinds of marble. Topping the Cathedral is a 120-foot wide copper vault. A lamp over the arch brings the aggregate tallness of the Cathedral to 306-feet-tall from the base to the highest point of the light.
