Castle Rock Museum
About Castle Rock Museum
The Castle Rock Museum is housed in a structure which by any record is its prime ancient rarity. The Denver and Rio Grande Railroad had quite recently been worked amongst Denver and Old Colorado City Colorado Springs in 1871. It was the principal slender check line in the United States and its developer, General William Jackson Palmer, had chosen a few networks along its course as meriting rail sidings or warehouses. Mansion Rock wound up one of them in 1874 when it was assigned as province seat of the recently re-adjusted Douglas County.
By 1875 a trim little station was raised on third road in the clamoring new town of Castle Rock. It was developed of Rhyolite building stone local to the region around Castle Rock and outlined in the style of the period with wide overhang upheld by drop-pendant sections. The stone work was finely nitty gritty on corners or building edges or around ledges and lintels.
