Carolands Chateau
About Carolands Chateau
Carolands Chateau is a 46,050-square-foot 4,278 m²; 4.5 story, 98 room house on 5.83 sections of land 2.36 ha in Hillsborough, California. A case of American Renaissance and Beaux-Arts outline, the building is a California Historical Landmark and is recorded on the National Register of Historic Places. Carolands has been called one of the "remainder of the colossal homes" worked amid the Gilded Age. This is a reference to a time of incredible manor constructing that included such celebrated homes as the Vanderbilt family's Marble House, Biltmore Estate and The Breakers.
Soon after the land was anchored in 1912, Duchene touched base in San Francisco and spread out the terrific Parterre gardens. Just a segment of these superb scene designs were finished. Late in 1913, Sanson was given the commission to design the estate. One part of the undertaking was to fuse into his plan the three stunning period rooms that Harriett had bought in Paris with the counsel of the well known antique merchant Boni de Castellane. Two of the numerous classy components of Sanson's plan are the exquisite Porte-cochere and the tactful dry channel which gives viable access to benefit without hindering the perspectives of the patio nurseries from the house above.
