About Buffalo Zoo
The Buffalo Zoo, situated at 300 Parkside Ave in Buffalo, New York, is the third most established zoo in the United States.The zoo is open year-round.The zoo follows its history to the mid-nineteenth century when Jacob E. Bergtold, a Buffalo furrier, exhibited a couple of deer to the city of Buffalo.
To furnish the deer with space to brush, Elam R. Jewett, the distributor of the Buffalo Daily Journal, offered to house the deer on his domain. All the while, plans were being made for the city North Park the present Delaware Park, and Mayor William F. Rogers contracted scene modeler, Frederick Law Olmsted, to incorporate a zoo as a feature of the recreation center's outline.
