Boothill Graveyard
About Boothill Graveyard
Boothill Graveyard was Tombstone's first burial ground, worked in 1879. While it was referred to just as the Old Cemetery in those days, it obtained the name Boothill in the 1920s in reference to the individuals who passed on "with their boots on", that is, in gunfighting activity.
The graveyard fell into deterioration after the mining downturn, as individuals withdrew from the settlement. Local people assert that it was John Clum, previous chairman and editorial manager of the Tombstone Epitaph, who propelled the tidy up process when he came back to visit the grave of his better half Mary and couldn't discover her resting place. Of the disastrous that rest at Boothill, remarkable names incorporate China Mary, the undisputed ruler of Tombstone's Chinese neighborhood, and Dutch Annie, ruler of an alternate sort – the Red Light District.
