About Battlefield Park
New Market Battlefield State Historical Park is a noteworthy American Civil war zone and national architecturally significant area situated close New Market, Shenandoah County, Virginia. The locale includes the site of the Battle of New Market, a fight battled on May 15, 1864, amid Valley Campaigns of 1864.
Amidst the war zone stands the Bushong House, utilized by the two sides as a clinic amid the fight and now the guest place for the 300-section of land stop. The recreation center is the site of the Virginia Museum of the Civil War worked by the Virginia Military Institute. It was recorded on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
