Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse is a beacon. It is situated inside Acadia National Park in the southwest part of Mount Desert Island, Maine, denoting the passageway to Bass Harbor and Blue Hill Bay.The history of Bass Harbor Head Light dates to 1855, when it was resolved that there was adequate purpose behind a beacon at the mouth of Bass Harbor. In 1885, the U.S. Congress appropriated $5,000 for development of the beacon. In 1876, development was finished on a haze chime and tower, since removed. A substantially bigger 4,000-pound 1800 kg ringer was put inside the pinnacle in 1898. The place of the lightkeeper stays in its unique setup except for a 10-foot option that was included 1900.
