About Avery House

Situated on West Mountain Avenue, the Avery House is a noteworthy building built in 1879 by Franklin and Sara Avery. Mr. Avery was in charge of establishing the First National Bank in Fort Collins, for making the wide avenues of the city, and for invigorating farming in the territory by making different water ventures.
The Averys influenced a few increases to the two-story sandstone to house over the following years including the significant Queen Anne Tower, which was the last expansion. Today, the house, the wellspring, the carriage house, and the Margaret Merrill Memorial Gazebo are recorded on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
