Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo
About Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo
The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo opened in June 1989 as Zooland Animal Park. The zoo was established as a private undertaking by Joey Ward of Gulf Shores. In 1991, the Ward family made the Zoo Foundation, Inc., a non-benefit organization, and gave the 17 sections of land of prime land that makes up the zoo today. After three years, the Ward family and the Erie Meyer Foundation thoughtfully gave an extra 13 sections of land, which are as yet undeveloped. Wide pathways all through the recreation center offer close up perspectives of more than 500 outlandish creatures including: lions, tigers, bears, primates, panthers, wolves, and that's just the beginning! Visit the reptile house, petting zoo, and aviary.
There is a shaded excursion zone, blessing shop and occasional concessions. We are open year round with occasional creature experiences, creature shows and attendant talks. The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo depends exclusively on confirmations, participations and commitments to stay in business. The nearby group and organizations have been liberal in giving cash, building supplies and administrations in years past. Considerable on-going financing through sponsorships, awards, and blessings from real companies did not exist before 1998. These extra wellsprings of income are currently being effectively sought after to guarantee the zoo's life span.
