About Witham
Witham is a town in the area of Essex in the East of England, with a populace of 25,353. It is a piece of the District of Braintree and is twinned with the town of Waldbrol, Germany. Witham remains between the city of Chelmsford 8 miles toward the south-west and the town of Colchester, on the Roman street between the two. The River Brain goes through the town and joins the River Blackwater simply outside.
Unearthings by Essex County Council field archeological unit at the ongoing Maltings Lane improvement found proof of Neolithic occupation at Witham, including human remains and a few trackways crosswise over old bog. Unearthings of the Witham Lodge region of the town in the 1970s divulged stays of a Roman sanctuary and also a stoneware furnace.
