About Winchester Castle

Winchester Castle, of which just demolishes remain, was worked in 1067 amid the rule of William the Conqueror. The structure was devastated by parliament in 1647 under the administration of Oliver Cromwell, at that point totally reestablished by Wren in 1683 as a living arrangement for Charles II.
Much history has been made in Winchester Castle: William the Conqueror had the Doomsday Book remained careful here, and Richard the Lionheart came here in 1194 preceding his second crowning ordinance in the house of God. The future King Henry III was conceived in the manor in 1207, Edward I held his first parliament here, and Sir Walter Raleigh was attempted in the law corridor for plotting against James I.
