Wimbledon

Wimbledon is a locale of southwest London, Wimbledon has been occupied since in any event the Iron Age when the slope fortification on Wimbledon Common, the second-biggest in London,is thought to have been developed.

The first core of Wimbledon was at the highest point of the slope near the regular – the territory now referred to locally as "the village".The town is alluded to as "Wimbedounyng" in a contract marked by King Edgar the Peaceful in 967.

The name Wimbledon signifies "Wynnman's slope", with the last component of the name being the Celtic "dun" hill.The name is appeared on J Cary's 1786 guide of the London zone as "Wimbleton", and the present spelling seems to have been settled on moderately as of late in the mid nineteenth century, the toward the end in a long queue of iations.
